The Mortal Years:

Jasmine bint Rashid bin Yusuf Kamara was born on March 7th, 1969. The youngest of four children in a devout Muslim family, Jasmine's had two sisters, Amira, Khadijah, and one brother, Akram, and a nephew named Ihsan who came to live with her extended family after the death of his parents in a car accident.

Jasmine grew up in Hudson, Wisconsin, and attended public school beginning with pre-school and extending all the way till her graduation from High School. Although she showed an apptitude for languages, she was unable to initially get permission from her father to study lanugages other than English, and so that talent is less developed then it might otherwise have been.

Jasmine studied hard throughout High School, maintaining a 3.8 grade point average throughout the entire time of her studies, and never missing a single day of school. The young woman graduated school at an accelerated rate, finishing at the age of seventeen, an entire year early.

She graduated her local High School with four scholarships, and acceptance into two different Universitys, the University of Chicago, and the University of Minnesota. Her father allowed her to choose which to attend, and because she craved the study of linguistics, which she had been denied in High School, Jasmine choose the University of Chicago, distancing herself from her family for the first time in her life.
