The Ghouldom:
When Jasmine entered The University, she was in for a bit of a culture shock. Her father, as well meaning as he was, had kept the seventeen year old on such a short leash, she had not seen what drunkness, night clubs, and sex were all about. Less than a week had passed as a university student before she had lost her virgin naivete.
The motivation for her total and complete three hundred and sixty degree turn about was simple. Nearly a week after she entered the University, police came knocking on her apartment door in the middle of the night. They explained to her in sympathetic words that her mother father, and sister Amira had been found dead, victims of racial violence.
A part of her was forever changed after this event. For one, she put aside the hijab, and her desire to be a good Muslim, deciding in the wake of this tragedy that she was following the wrong path, and that she would abide it no longer. This caused her brother, cousin, and remaining sister to disown her.
Her brother was even so mortified by Jasmine's adopting a western lifestyle and leaving the religion that he attempted to make her the victim of an honor killing. She killed him in self defense, dispatching of him without emotional damage, even though he had been her family before the attack went down.
When Jasmine found herself under arrest, she expected to be spending the rest of her life in prison, as capital punishment had been outlawed in 1853. When her court appointed attorney arrived to interview her, he got the police to drop murder charges under very questionable circumstances. Then he spoke to her alone, transforming from his anglo-saxon appearance into a handsome man of Northern Indian origin, introducing himself as Danvir Batnagar. What followed was an exchange of blood and within the next three nights, Danvir of the Broken Arrow pack had ghouled her.
